Animal Survival

Our compelling questions are "What do animals do to survive in Winter?" and "Do all animals do the same things to survive?"  These questions directly relate to the CT ELDS standards for children 3-5 years of age "S.48.7 Explore how animals depend upon the environment for food, water and shelter S.60.9 Provide examples of how animals depend on plants and other animals for food."
The sensory table contains an "iceberg", smooth beach stones and sea creatures that would live in the Arctic.
The Animal Survival Dramatic Play area has puppets, tree blocks and smaller animals that are plastic.  There are also full-sized tree coins and logs from our outdoor nature play area.
