I was fortunate to be able to attend the Nature-Based Preschool National Conference in Seattle, WA this summer. What I learned was the inherent value to a nature-based curriculum. I took away many ideas for using nature in early childhood education. Loose parts offer children a way to be creative, communicate, cooperate, think critically and become citizens of a classroom community. I'm adding lots of photographs here. I am interested in what people think of natural loose parts. Each week I hope to add more materials to enhance learning.
