Beginnings of a still life work of Forsythia

A still life (plural: still lifes) is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which are either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, shells, etc.) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, etc.).[1]

Forced Forsythia and a vase are the subjects for a group art project this week.  Children engage in a myriad of skills, including tracing, cutting, painting, wrinkling paper and gluing.

Vase templates were selected first and traced using short pencils to encourage a tripod grasp that is held closer to the tip.
Students sometimes benefit from assistance with utilizing scissors.  Proper thumb up and fingers down position and slide and snip are prompts staff provides.
