We were looking for evidence of Cottontail rabbits in the woods at Vinton School. Binoculars helped us view from afar towards the fields. Ms. Reynolds, a friend who has significant experience with compasses was our guest expert today. At the trail head we learned how to take a bearing and as we walked in the woods we stopped to determine our direction. We found coyote prints and coyote scat but no rabbit tracks (photos were available for children to refer to) or rabbit pellets. Perhaps the coyote is keeping the rabbits away?
