Department of Environmental Conservation Presentation "Kicking Off" our project!

A rabbit skull explains how the animal hears, sees (eyes on the sides of its head) and eats!
Andrea explains how she and her fellow officers capture rabbits to tag them and why how much the rabbit weighs etc. is important to their research project.
A complete rabbit was not available, but these heads gave the children the opportunity to examine the ears, whiskers, nose length and fur.
Predator and prey were discussed as well.  Here, puppets emphasize the circle of life.  What eats rabbits?  Pretty much everything does.  Loss of habitat and death by vehicles has seriously threatened our local rabbits.
