Birds in Nests-A New Bulletin Board for the Main Hallway

Fun Things to Do with Our Families-Camping!

Binoculars are handy when looking for flying squirrels.

"Where is that squirrel?"

Fixing a snack at Camp Vinton.

A snowy owl and his camp buddy.

Look for letters coming home from Camp Vinton.  We have fun but sure do miss our families.

Writing a letter home.

Forest puppets visit camp.

This owl sure does have  lots of friends at camp!

Absorption in Action

After experimenting with absorption, students had an opportunity to use sponges of various sizes and shapes to determine how much water each held.  Our friend Ms. J from Speech and Language was there to help us explain our thinking.

Science is Fun!

Science Monday-Absorption and Scientific Methodology

Scientific practice by two friends who are concentrating on their results.

Children were given a variety of materials such as tin foil, pom-poms, plastic bears, wooden toothpicks etc.  Children then placed their item on a plate and attempted to soak them in order to determine absorption.  After determining whether or not the item absorbed water, their items were sorted on a tray.  We discussed the results, giving children an opportunity to develop their oral language skills.

Block Design

Students were given photographs of block designs and then sent to the block area to find the same blocks and rebuild the same structure.  Later, children will be challenged by drawing the same design.

Science Monday-Atmosphere, Clouds and Making it Rain

Friends enjoying the new bear puzzles

WaterTable Work

Children enjoyed using the water table.  Funnels, eye droppers, measuring cups and similar dippers offered children a chance to experiment with liquids and their properties.  Cause and effect as well as using fine motor skills provided lots of fun.

Floor puzzles

Large floor puzzles encourage strengthening spatial skills and orientation.

Hard work can make you tired!

Still Art

Students used string to design patterns on the vases for their forsythia stems.
Our inspiration-Spring is almost here.
