Gentle Reminder about Footwear

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The warm weather is here and thus children head to school sporting flip-flops and other types of "cool" footwear.  Please be mindful that safety is paramount at Vinton and open-toed shoes such as sandals and flip-flops are not suitable for the Playscape.  We provide other activities during recess but most of them require a sports shoe.  Your child is welcome to add an extra pair of "play shoes" to their bag of extra clothing if you'd like!

Thanks for your support!-Martha

ECHO UGANDA IN THE MORNING!

Vinton students were treated to a performance by the talented band "Echo Uganda" on Thursday morning.  Gideon Ampeire and his fabulous fellow musicians got us up dancing and singing and drumming.  A fabulous event!

MORNING FIELD TRIP TO THE VINTON GREENHOUSE

The children went on a field trip to the Vinton Greenhouse today.  We felt how warm the baby vegetables and flowers have to be in order to grow.  We saw soil, seeds and plants.  The basil smelled delicious.  Thank you Garden Club for the excellent work.

Recess time for the Morning Friends

Writing and erasing...

Sticks make excellent writing instruments.

This friend is getting her brave on-higher, higher!

Recess safety is always a concern, but these friends were having a good time here and no one got hurt.

Morning friends who came to school as their favorite characters

Color Groups week of May 1

A parent volunteer facilitated a cooperative learning activity.  Students worked together to complete a floor puzzle and then read the rhyming words.

Feeding the Wozzle-gross & fine motor skills, plus FUN!

Students read about birds building nests and then created one on their own.  It wasn't so easy.  I'm very pleased with the delicate nature of  these works of art.  Hoping you're enjoying them at home!

Students made it rain last week (although I don't think the weather really needed any help).  Water is the atmosphere, clouds are shave cream and the moisture that falls as rain was liquid water color.  Students used their fine motor skills to control the water through pipettes.
